Nothing Very Much At All
Time is zooming by as it is wont to do. I can't believe it's the 8th of October already - seems I only just adjusted to this September thing. It's strange to be so unaware of the month - I'm used to thinking in terms of midterm schedules and papers to write, and now, suddenly, I find that one month is remarkably similar to another. This is not entirely a bad thing. I see panicked students in the Students' Union Building, and I think how glad I am not to be one of them. Work is interesting and busy, and I sit in my office and think how much I like it in here, with my paintings on the wall and my pretty lamp in the corner.

The weather is trying to confuse me too - it's been unseasonably warm all week, and despite the leaves everywhere I'm having a hard time remembering that it's fall. Shuffling through crunchy leaves is a good reminder, though, and I can only hope that the good weather holds out long enough for a pleasant Halloween. I remember how much I hated it when it was absolutely frigid on Halloween and you had to wreck your costume with a stupid snowsuit.

Mama Bean and I are hoping to take Bean out Trick or Treating this year, which is sure to be fun. She has a pumpkin costume which is officially in the top ten cutest things I've ever seen in my life. The waddle is really what makes it so classic. My own costume is nearly organized, well in advance for a change.

The novel preparations are going well, as is rallying various people around Edmonton to write. It's amazing what a little trash talk with Calgary can do for peoples' motivation. I'm hoping to get my laptop this weekend (eeeeee!) and I can't wait to be able to write wherever and whenever I want.

I also can't wait to be able to watch DVDs anywhere I want! I bought Season Two of Buffy yesterday, and god, I'd forgotten how incredibly good it is. Wow.

One of these days, I swear, I will write an update about more than what I've been doing. I will write about packing, and moving, and leaving behind the house that I grew up in. I will write about what, exactly, is making me miss Disneyland so badly. I will write about my family. I will write about my name, and about changing my name, and about marriage. I will write about Christmas, and winter, and holidays. I will write about road trips and singalongs, driving and dancing.

But for today, I will have to settle for writing about nothing very much at all.
