5:31 p.m. - 2003-12-12 The new furniture is here now, and uncovered now that the living room has been painted. It's brightly patterned and extremely comfortable, with lots of big squishy pillows and comfortable as all heck. The walls are painted a soft yellow in there, and with the sunshine streaming in through the huge floor to ceiling bay window, it's cheery and comfortable in there. The front hall is the same shade of yellow that my bedroom is going to be, and I love it. It's bright and cheery and sunny, and just looking at it makes me happy. I cannot wait to get my room set up properly, for the first time in nearly two months now, with my furniture just so and my new dresser all tidy and the walls the colour I want them to be for the first time in my entire life. (My dad just interrupted me to tell me he's not convinced about the front hall colour, so maybe it won't stay. But my room will be that colour, dammit!) We have a new microwave now, and the new stove will be here next week. The painter is expecting to be done at the end of next week, and then, finally, the house will be ours instead of ours plus a million people traipsing in and out six hundred times a day. We'll get a Christmas tree, and we'll put it up with our usual amount of silliness and bickering. So, all in all, life is on the upswing. The house is getting closer to being a home instead of just a place for various people to tromp through and alter, Christmas is impending, I'm going to two Christmas parties this weekend and then spending my Sunday watching Survivor (well, I'll probably do a few other things, but that's definitely on the list), and it's only 5 days till Return of the King. Whee!
