Coming Home
I realised just now, as I was doing the dishes, that I have no idea where presents get hidden in the new house. In our old house, my mum hid our presents in the same place every year, and it took a great deal of restraint for me not to go and investigate. (ie more restraint than I have.) As a result, I usually knew what I was getting for Christmas, which kind of sucked. The last few years, I've been working really hard at being, you know, an adult who doesn't go looking for hidden Christmas presents. I am delighted to realise that this year, I don't already know where they are, and it'll be much easier for me not to go and look at them since it would require actual effort. Woo!

My own Christmas shopping is going delightfully well. I've got my parents still to deal with, and a few bits and pieces to pick up here and there, but I've got plans to go shopping with Hermione (who gets home on Tuesday - yippee!) later in the week, and I'm feeling quite enthusiastic about that, let me tell you, because I miss her like crazy and hanging out with her will be a hoot. (For the record: she's Hermione because she's obscenely smart and occasionally has crazy hair. She does not have buck teeth. Nor, to my knowledge, is she a witch.)

I'm happy that as of next weekend, all of my friends will be home. Hermione, JayJay and her husband G, Foreman, RAISIN and the Cowboy...while the Christmas parties and present buying and card writing and carol singing are all very festive, the thing that will make me happiest about Christmas this year is seeing all my friends. I miss them all like crazy, even if I don't mention that often enough, and next Sunday's party with everyone together again is definitely going to be the hightlight of the season for me.
