11:38 p.m. - 2004-02-07 For one thing, I've been doing a lot of knitting. Knitting works very nicely when one settles in with a Buffy DVD or 20, and since I am now the proud owner of all five available seasons of Buffy DVDs, more often than not lately I've been settling myself in on the couch in the basement with whatever knitting project I'm working on and watching three episodes in a row. I've made it through four seasons, a hat for Bean, a scarf for Jamie, and part of a top secret project. I take my knitting with me everywhere I go, now - it's become a habit to pull it out whenever I'm sitting still. I've quickly developed my ability to knit without watching what I'm doing and it makes all the difference in the world. What with our friend from England being here this week, we broke out the video of me and my sister when we were 4 and 6, respectively, and boy, it's cute. Jamie was highly entertained at the sight of me, at 4, with my knobby little knees, doing my ballet exercises. I'm more impressed with how good a reader I am at age four myself, but that's just the braggart in me coming out. The video (extremely low quality picture wise but of the highest comedic quality) features both my sister and I reading from our current favourites, showing off our best moves on the backyard climbing frame, the fabulous ballet, and some truly awful jokes. Let me tell you, those of you who think my jokes now are pretty lame (my favourite joke in the entire world is as follows: What's brown and sticky? I will give you the answer at the end of the entry.), my four year old sense of humour left even more to be desired. I was also rather prone to flashing my knickers about, since little girls in my town in England wore skirts in the 80s, no questions asked, and Jamie was highly amused at the fact that I've been totally unladylike my entire life. It is nice to know that some things never change: there is also a fight between me and my sister that ended in my stomping off to have a tantrum. Good thing I was cute. Speaking of cute, admire this adorable picture of the Bean in her festive new hat: And, without further ado: A stick.
