2:37 p.m. - 2004-08-15 I love the Olympics. Life has genuinely been too hectic for me to update. When I do have free time, I'm talking to my roommate or, more likely, watching Buffy. I'm less inclined to spend an evening with my computer now that I have company at home. Diana has proven so far to be the best roommate I could have wanted - our lives have overlapped quite seamlessly, and as we settle into our apartment we're getting used to the quirks and the inevitable differences with remarkable ease. I love our apartment, despite the clutter and boxes that still litter it. I love coming home here, waking up here, being able to do what I want when I want it. I love living with someone I chose rather than someone I'm related to. I love how much we laugh, and how goofy we are, and how easy it is to live together. (So far, anyway.) I love that I can use scented products, away from my dad who is allergic to everything. I love my new bed. Work is going extremely well as well - I've picked up some extra shifts at other libraries, which has the duel advantage of extra money and getting myself known around the system. I'm trying to get more involved in things around the library, volunteering for things and making an extra effort. It's satisfying and fun, a delightful change from this time last year when the novelty of my old job was starting to wear off. Since my last (long ago) update, we've been to another wedding, which was fun and beautiful. Hard to believe that all these people are now married, harder yet to believe that our wedding is hurtling every closer - almost exactly 11 months away now. Yikes. Also notable, of course, is the arrival of the Bean's sibling. After months of Mama Bean being pregnant, I think I almost forgot that there would be a baby at the end of it. After a few false alarms, on July 30th (scheduled due date, even!), The Peanut made her appearance in the world. She is adorable and feisty, and doing extremely well. Mama Beannut is also doing incredibly well. The Bean is less amused. It's a rough life being two. And here, in all her adorable glory, is the Peanut.
The last thing of note at the moment is the Fringe, the major theatre festival here in Edmonton. My sister, crazy fool that she is, is doing two shows. Jamie and I saw one of them last night, and it was fabulous! Yay, Bonkles! So if you live in Edmonton and are looking for a fantastic Fringe show, I heartily endorse Real Time, as directed by my sister and stage managed by her best friend. Drop me a note if you want more details. I will attempt to update again soon to talk about our adventures in Jasper - Jamie and I went camping last weekend. There are some great pictures, so I'll leave that for another entry so as not to make this entry even longer.
