The Holidailies Season
Things are looking quite festive at the Den of Iniquity. We have beads festooning the walls, lights along the balcony window, garland draped (kind of pathetically) along the plant, which is sort of Charlie Brown-ish but cheerful nonetheless, and a wreath on the door. Made by me, even! The advent calendar is hanging up over the regular calendar, and we take it in turns to move the tree along and have a chocolate. It’s all very jolly, and I’m enjoying having my own place to decorate. Most of our decorations are cheap ones that we’ve picked up over the last few weeks, although I do have a particularly nice table runner on our side table that Jamie’s mother gave me in my stocking last year.

We’re going to get a tree eventually, a real one, because Diana has never had a real tree and I feel that is an experience everyone should have once. I may feel less enthusiastic about it after we haul it up the stairs, although we’re only going to get a little one. We have a few decorations and are picking up things here and there as we go along. I may raid my mother’s Christmas box for a few more things.

So, here we are, speeding towards Christmas at an alarming rate. I was traumatized on Saturday when we started checking out books that were due back on December 29th, as a result of the four day weekend we get for Christmas this year. Good grief! By the end of this week books will be due in 2005! Gack! I’m not ready for that.

I am ready for Christmas, though! Yay, Christmas! And it’s Holidailies Season once more, which means another year of attempting to update daily. I’ve sort of fallen short of the mark in the last two years – 19 and 18 updates in December, and this year I’m determined to best that. I’m not totally convinced I can get in a full 30 updates between the 7th of December and the 6th of January, but I will try. You may all get absolutely sick to death of wedding, knitting, and Buffy talk, but that may end up making up the majority of the updates. I’m only one woman, you know. There’s only so much excitement I can muster in a single month.

Mind you, I’m sure I’ll rustle up a few comments on Christmas. Considering that my sister AND Jamie have both already bought my presents and are taunting me about it, I may yet manage to find some time to heckle them about their presents too.

But, since it’s a long month and my creativity is somewhat sapped by NaNo still, I ask you: what would you like me to write about in December? Leave me a note, sign the guestbook, or fire off an email to sarahjanet@diaryland.com. I will take most requests. Probably.
